Eric Cantor, the powerful number two Republican in the House of Representatives has lost the Republican primary to David Brat, a conservative Tea Party challenger. The big upset is certainly a message from the arch conservatives who see the Republican in Washington as not conservative enough.
This defeat doesn’t change anything for the Democrats and the Obama administration because one extremist is replaced by another more extremist conservative. Eric Cantor or David Brat, or vice versa, President Obama’s political agenda will face the same blockage. As the Asians in South Africa say, “All rotten fish taste the same.”
