The newly elected mayor of New York City has sworn in officially! Can De Blasio keep his promise to end inequality?

Bill De Blasio’s campaign was focused on taxing the wealthy more. His answer to poverty sounds very simplistic. The loss of manufacturing in big cities across the US is certainly the root of its economic ¬†downfall, but let’s recognize that inequality is a cultural foundation of this country.

There is a difference between words and reality. New York homeless numbers have increased significantly since the recession has hit the US economy. How will Bill De Blasio tackle inequality differently than his predecessor? How he is going to end economic and social inequalities?

I see a lot of similarities between Bill De Blasio and the newly elected President Obama. Expectations are high and the reality on the job is different. Mr. De Blasio should learn from President Obama’s mistakes. As the Bateke of Congo say, “If you close your eyes to facts, you will learn through accidents.”
