US Government Shutdown: The gourd’s neck cannot be straightened in its old age.

The US government shutdown is proof once again of the broken American political system.

The founders of America certainly would agree that they got it right in their time and wrong for the long term. America is more than 200 years old, with two political parties, two ideologies. What is the point of electing a president if he doesn’t have the power to execute the program that he was elected for?

The United States is unique in modern democracy. It is certainly not an inspiring model of democracy, especially for preaching democracy all around the world. How embarrassing it is that the “greatest” country in the world can be paralyzed by its own leaders?

America needs to be reinvented. The political system is broken. As the Bateke of Congo say, “The gourd’s neck cannot be straightened in its old age.”
