US promise no death penalty for Snowden: Evening promises are like butter: morning comes, and it’s all melted

The US attorney general is courting the Russians to hand over Snowden, promising that the U.S. will not seek the death penalty against the ex-CIA contractor. He still faces many years, probably life, in jail. The US may change its mind once Snowden is in custody. As the Arabs of Morocco say, “Evening promises are like butter: morning comes, and it’s all melted.”
