As expected, violence in Iraq is back now that US troops have left the country. The US troops were the preventors of sectarian violence between Sunni and Shiite. The latest violence is the work of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Now that the “infidels” (for some, “invaders” for others) have left Iraq, what is the significance of violence?
The Iraqi government has a lot to do to prove that they are capable to protect its people. If the Iraqi army cannot step up, then nine years of foreign assistance was wasted. As the Bangala of Congo say, “Know the price of food on market while your parents are still alive.”
