In Washington, friction over the debt ceiling continues. It appears that the Republicans will do everything to stop President Obama from governing this country.

It is true that all politicians make decisions based on ideology to stay in power, but the GOP representives have no sense of “nation” at all. The obsession with making Obama a one-term president may have the opposite effect on them. The latest polls on the debt ceiling debate are speaking loudly. 

Fortunately, there are a few rare representives in Washington who understand better what is important for the nation other than the politics of obstruction. The Gang of Six — composed of three Democrats and three Republicans — have come together to propose a promising outcome.

The Gang of Six has proven that negotiation is the key to success despite their different ideological views. As the Wolof of Senegal say, “Better an intelligent enemy than a stupid friend.”
