The US administration is supplying drone aircraft to Uganda and Burundi to fight Islamist militants in Somalia. The US drone aircraft have been successful weapons in fighting Al-Qaeda and Islamist militants in Pakistan, Yemen, and Afghanistan. However, giving drones to two African countries shows that the US cannot be fighting Islamists in every corner of the planet alone.
The US government does have no choice. It has troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, drones in Yemen and Pakistan, and is involved in Libya. The US is overwhelmed. But, as the Bangala of Congo say, “A dog has four legs, but follows only one direction.”
