One of Europe’s worst war criminals, responsible for one of the worst civilian massacres since World War II, has been captured. Ratko Mladic, a Bosnian Serb military leader hid for sixteen years.
This is good news for the families of the victims of his crimes and also a big victory for justice. Mladic ordered his troops to rape Muslim women and girls and kill Muslim men. His capture sends a message to those still commiting war crimes in different parts of the world. As the Xhosa of South Africa say, “No sin goes unpunished.”
