Osama Bin Laden is dead. For those who hated him, today is a good day. For those who supported him, it is a sorrowful day. For sure, the death of Osama Bin Laden means the birth of millions of ”Osama”s in the Muslim world.

It is foolish to believe  that the death of the most wanted man in the world means the end of the war on terror. The man is dead but his message and doctrine still inspire millions in the Muslim world. We have to expect, sooner or later, retaliation from his supporters.

The biggest embarassment goes to the Pakistani government, who always claimed to not know Osama’s whereabouts. Osama was killed in a mansion, living near the largest military academy of Pakistan. It is clear that, the harder it was to catch or kill Osama, the more money the US would pour into Pakistan to hunt him down. Definitely, the Pakistani secret service will have a hard time being trusted. Ten years of search and billions of dollars spent for nothing.

Osama Bin Laden was killed by US special forces, not by the Pakistanis. For ten years, the Pakistani government has made empty promises. Hopefully, Americans have learned their lesson. As the Baganda of Uganda say, “When a naked person promises you cloth, beware.”
