Carl Lewis, one of the best athletes of our time, has announced that he’s running for the New Jersey State Senate. We hope that he will be successful in his campaign and will bring a sense of civility, which is lacking in politics lately.
Carl Lewis is admired, but running on the field is different than running for a political seat. He should know that politics is an ugly business, and that a political campaign can be very personal and sometimes very ugly. As the Bakuni of Congo say, “If you choose to lie down with dogs, you must be prepared to wake up with fleas.”
We wish Lewis the best of luck.
