Sometimes, crazy people tell the truth. America is broke. The Tea Party insurgency is right about this and their goal is to cut government spending. It is true that the American government cannot keep spending money that it does not have. The irony is that those who are talking about fiscal discipline today — the Republicans – are those who put the country in the hole in the first place.

Something needs to be done. The Republican leaders should tell the truth to the American people instead of pretending that, somehow, the American debt has increased overnight. For eight years, the US treasury was George W. Bush’s piggy bank. As the Maasai of Kenya say, “Truth is like fire – it cannot be hidden under dry leaves.”
