America has lost one of its most respected and influential women: Geraldine Ferraro. Not only was she the first woman to run for vice-president on the national ticket, she also advocated for women’s rights and human rights all around the world.
She has shown bravery in a world of politics dominated by men. If we look back, she was a pioneer who opened the door for women in politics in America. She will be remembered as a great American for all her achievements — remembered for what she has done in life, not remembered for losing in 1984 against the Reagan-Bush ticket. As the Baganda of Uganda say, “You must judge a woman by the taste of her soup.”
