Opposition leaders being arrested in Iran: Once the snake’s head is cut off, the rest is a rope

China and Iran are very nervous right now. Demands for more freedom in North Africa and the Middle East are a threat to the most repressive regime in the world. In Iran, opposition leaders were arrested as a measure to prevent protests.

For sure, what is going on in the Middle East and North Africa will not stop in the Muslim world. In China, policeĀ are on high alert. Rumors of protests are circulating and sending hundreds of police into theĀ streets. China is “allergic” to the word “Jasmine protests.”

By arresting Mir Hossein Moussavi and Mehdi Karroubi, two vocal critics of the Iranian government, the Iranian regime knows that the opposition within Iran will have difficulties to organize a “day of anger.” As the Bambara of Mali say, “Once the snake’s head is cut off, the rest is a rope.”
