James Eric Fuller, a 63 year old victim of the Tucson shooting, was arrested for threatening Tea Party organizer Trent Humphries, saying ”you are dead.” Revenge is not the best way to challenge irrational people. The wound still fresh in the heart of people all around the US, only Tea Party organizers have the guts to go back to their usual activities just days after the tragedy.

Such an attitude speaks loudly about the extremist group: they did not learn anything from this tragedy. Those who have listened to Sarah Palin’s eight minute response to her detractors will realize that she still does not get it. Violence for violence is not the answer, but rather exposing and denouncing the incitation to violence.

James Eric Fuller was wrong and has apologized for it. The Tea Party-ers are taking this case as victims of persecution, which is not the case. Violence is wrong. As the Swahili of Tanzania say, “When you fight fire with fire, somebody is going to get hurt.”
