From November 5 to December 24, retail sales in the US have risen to $584 billion. That means that Americans are spending despite this period of high unemployement and tough economic times. Where is the money coming from? For sure, this is a culture of credit cards, therefore the culture of spending more than what they have. It is a vicious circle, difficult to break.

In a country with an average household debt estimated to be $7394, what matters is more the outside look. Modesty and sobriety are certainly not the most popular words in American culture. Americans should know one thing, as the Kreol of Sierra-Leonne say: “Save money and money will save you.”
