The firing of Juan Williams by NPR (National Public Radio) for comments he made about being nervous when flying alongside Muslims is a big disappointment. Being a journalist and not being able to express his thoughts is not fair.
I have been thinking about it and I wonder if liberals have lost their sense of objectivity. Being a liberal does not mean being blind and deaf. Anybody–liberal, conservative, or independent–who pretends not to see that the biggest challenge of our time is terrorism is an hypocrite. The terrorists see Americans as a whole, not their individual political views.
Honestly, even a drunk man would have a moment of anxiety, a fleeting wondering thought, flying with a woman wearing an hijab or a burqa. Male terrorists have used women’s clothing to hide bombs. We cannot ignore facts. The firing of Juan Williams is not only wrong, but stupid. As the Kambu of Nigeria say, “The truth passes through fire and does not burn.”
