Americans have honored the memory of the September 11 attack. This year’s commemoration was unique, tense because of the proposed Islamic center near ground zero and the tension created by pastor Terry Jones, who was threatening to burn Korans as a way to remember the tragic event. The worse has passed. President Obama has called on Americans to be more tolerant.
A sorrowful day in America is certainly a day of joy for those who hate America. It would be great if the Islamic world could condemn the 9/11 attacks with the same passion that they condemn the burning of Korans.
Clearly this is a war between two civilizations, a war that will never end until one side will exterminate another. Honestly, should we blame pastor Terry Jones for his radical views against Islam? Revenge is certainly not the best answer to extremist Islamists. As the Berber of Morocco say, “Fire does not make fire, only ashes.”
