Definitely, race relations in America are like a cancer: there is no cure. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is under fire for forgetting to mention slavery in the proclamation declaring April as Confederate history month. It is not possible to omit 400 years of slavery. Slavery and Confederacy are indivisible.

The governor is acting like a priest caught having sex, blaming the devil for his actions. Should we blame the governor for being born and raised in an environment where still many feel proud of their heritage?

People of color must know that they cannot change the past and cannot change people’s beliefs in the 21st century. They need to move on! The governor has come out with an apology and condemnation of slavery to look good in the eyes of the nation.

As usual when you want attention in America, offend Black people. The governor got what he wanted! For sure, as the Bateke of Congo say, “He who is born a fool is never cured.”
