Hamid Karzai Accuses The West of Fraud: Do not tell the man who is carrying you that he stinks.

Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan and ex-CIA agent, has accused the West of committed fraud during the last Afghan presidential elections. These accusations took almost everybody who follows foreign affairs by surprise.

This xenophobic message is not the message that a leader who is supposed to bring stability in his country should say. The world knows why foreign troops landed in Afghanistan in the first place. If they hadn’t, Afghanistan would be a safe haven for terrorists. Anarchy would prevail. It is unclear whether Karzai’s accusations are calculated rhetoric since he is visiting Iran at the invitation of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Maybe he wanted to please his host.

President Karzai should always remember that, without U.S. and NATO troops, his government would not exist. Our advice to the President of Afghanistan is, as the Malinke of Mali say, “Do not tell the man who is carrying you that he stinks.”
