The wretched of the earth, Haiti still is at the center of the news after its tragic earthquake. Sometimes, bad things are good things in the long run.

The world is responding to the suffering of the Haitian people. For the first time in its history, Haiti is about to receive millions, maybe billions, of dollars to rebuild a country that did not have anything prior to the earthquake.

Seeing three living US presidents join forces to help the Caribbean nation is a sign that things are going in the right direction.  Despite the heavy loss of life, Haiti will certainly be better off — as long as the money is well spent. As the Kouyou of Congo say, “Once the teeth are together they can crack the bone.”
