A limited number of terror suspects held at the US detention facility in Guantanamo bay, Cuba, will be moved to a rural Illinois state prison, creating jobs for Americans.
This controversial decision has created a fracture in American society. Some politicians have exploited this decision to spread a climate of fear that, somehow, these terrorists on American soil will put American lives in danger.
It is unrealistic to believe that, somehow, Al-Quaeda will send a commando to liberate its militants on American soil. These are not the first terrorists held in an American prison. If this move can help create jobs in that region, then the decision is right.
Being at Thomson Correctional center in Illinois will not change these dangerous criminals to “super” criminals. They still will face American justice. As the Somalis of Somalia say, “When a man sleeps, he is the same person when he wakes up.”
