Mike Huckabee is under heat and under a lot of criticism. Back in 2000, the then Arkansas governor commuted Clemmons, the cop killer in Washington, who was serving a 108-year sentence for theft and other charges.
The media has been very unfair, trying to blame Huckabee for what happened 9 years after he pardoned Clemmons. An act of compassion is turning into a nightmare for this man of God, whose fault is applying what his God told him to do.
If we all knew what would happen in the future, we certainly would do things in reverse to get it right in the present. Mr. Clemmons was a grown up, responsible for his own actions. Blaming someone else is just wrong. As the Himba of Namibia say, “It is the one who lies by a fire who feels the heat.”
