Muammar Ghaddafi, the Libyan leader, has succeeded in stealing the attention at the U.N. General Assembly. This man is the real good change that the world wants to see. Moving from sponsoring terrorism to a peaceful state is a positive move that states like Iran should follow.

In his speech at the U.N. he pointed out the unfairness in world affairs. Basically five members of the U.N. security council rule the world and tell the majority how to behave or how to run their countries. Having a nuclear weapon puts them in a position to bully the rest of the world and also prevent others such Iran and North Korea to acquire their own nuclear capabilities.

Under embargo for forty years, Ghaddafi seems to have a lot to say. At some point in his speech he basically touched old wounds. Time has passed and the world needs peace. Ghaddafi cannot return to the old cold war mentality. You like peace or you do not. There is no middle. As the Baganda of Uganda say, “You cannot be a mouse and bat at the same time.”
