The US may be on the path of losing the war in Afghanistan. The chance of winning is too little if the president does not listen to General McChrystal, who is asking for more troops.

How can you win a war in Iraq or Afghanistan, two countries who are neighbors with Iran? Definitely, Iran does not wish the US success. The weapons and other support for the Taliban are coming not from “Allah” but likely from Iran. It is well known that the borders between Afghanistan and Iran or the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan are sieves. No matter how big the US contingents and European troops,  it is like fighting millions of enemies: the Taliban and its worldwide sympathizers.

The president must listen and support the people on the ground because they know the reality best. As the people of Zambia say, “One who enters a forest does not listen to the breaking of the twigs in the brush.”
