Tom Ridge, former Homeland Security secretary for the Bush administration claims in a coming book that they pressured him to adjust the terror threat level for political gain.
On the one hand, it is not a surprise because George W. Bush and his guru Karl Rove understood that 9/11 was a blessing for his administration. The politics of fear always works in America.
On the other hand, Tom Ridge was part of the Bush administration. Why wait so long to bring this out if it is not a calculated move to sell a book? As usual the conservatives are trashing Tom Ridge and disputing the claim.
Ridge’s book is already controversial. As the Swahili of Tanzania say, “A good thing sells itself, a bad one advertises itself.”
(Let’s just think about health care reform right now.)
