The American health care system is broken. During the presidential campaign, candidate Obama promised to fix the ailing system. His plan to repair what many presidents have failed to repair is ambitious. No matter how good his intentions are, he will face a lot of resistance from politicians of both political parties who are hostages of the powerful drug lobby.

Americans would be shy to call bribery corruption but Washington is corrupt. How will the president and his administration be able to do it without losing support within their own party? What is expected is that the GOP will oppose it anyway. It is a shame that there are 46 million Americans without insurance and that number is quickly growing.

How it is possible that the American people accept it, without seeing the standard of health care in any civilized society? Where does this idea come from: that if the government makes health care affordable to people, it is socialism? Are France, Canada, and the UK socialists ?

Definitely, the politicians in Washington are to blame for the failure of health care in America. Their hands are tied by the drug companies. Health care is a human right. Politicians should be ashamed. As Yoruba of Nigeria say, “It is more fun doing evil than putting it right.”
