President Kim Jong-il of North Korea has chosen his successor, his son Kim Jong-un. The vicious North Korean leader who has had health problems has chosen his younger son, at the expense of his two older brothers. He’s a spitting image of his father and has his charisma.
What is surprising about his son is that he was born in Japan and studied in Switzerland under a pseudonym. He also attended a military academy in Pyongyang. Having lived in the West, the hope is that maybe he will be more open-minded than his father and can maybe change the ideology of his country.
It is difficult to predict the future of this country. Would he be different? Or he will follow in his father’s steps? As the Luo of Kenya say, “A chick that will grow into a cock can be spotted the very day it hatches.”
