The inspiring performance by Susan Boyle, an unknown Scottish woman on Britain’s Got Talent, taught us a lesson: that we shouldn’t judge others based on appearance, race, gender, or sexual orientation. Prejudice is wrong. Prejudice can make someone successful or destroy someone’s life. In this case, the response to her performance was more overwhelming than expected — putting the judges and the public against the wall.
A Christian would believe that God had a plan for Susan, even though there was no hint beforehand of this blessing. As the Bemba of Zambia say, “When God cooks, there is no smoke.”
