Apparently the Republican party has found a way to improve their image as the old White racist party with conservative values. More and more, two fresh faces symbolizing change are rising in the media: Bobby Jindal (Governor of Louisiana and an Indian-American) and Michael Steele (an African American).

When you listen to the old Southern Republican guards such as US Senator Richard Shelby from Alabama, the impression is that there are two Republican parties: the hardcore reminiscent of the old segregationists led by a small group of Southern Republicans and the new faces from minorities.

The two groups are speaking two different languages. The old guard may be using the new faces to show that their party is more tolerant and diverse; however, their actions speak for themselves. They are the same.

Lately, Jindal and Steele have been on the radio and TV to promote the change within the Republican party. No matter what they think, the American people are smart enough to see clearly that the Republican party is running out of fresh ideas. Their ethnic origins will not be enough to attract minorities. As the Bateke of Congo say, “Good things sell themselves; those that are bad have to be advertised.”
