Peace is good. But peace is not good at any price. Many voices are raised against the new Pakistani government deal with the Pakistani Taliban, instituting a system of Islamic law called Shariah in the Swat valley in Peshawar, one of the most violent regions of Pakistan.

The American government has a legitimate reason to be worried. The terrorist attacks of 9/11 were harbored from Afghanistan with the help of the Taliban. But, at the same time, only the Pakistani government knows the price of war against extremists on its own soil. Maybe this deal will bring less trouble in the region. Maybe not. How will the US administration deal with the Pakistani government? One thing is certain, peace has a price, no matter what part of the world you live in. As the Massai of Kenya say, “There is no cure that does not have its price.”
