After many warnings, the State of Israel retaliated against the constant attacks from Hamas. I would be insensitive to say “they told you so.” More than 200 people were killed include innocent children. Many questions crossed my mind this morning when I read the news from the Middle East. What’s the best solution for peace in the Middle-East? Israel is certainly not an angel. Many concessions must be made to bring peace to this region.

On the one hand the Palestinians deny the right to Israel to exist; on the other hand, the people of Israel see their land as the Promised Land. Many American administrations failed to bring a solution. As usual, when Israel strikes back after a “rain” of Kassam rockets from Gaza, the scheme is the same: protests throughout the Arab world, an emergency meeting of Arab League followed by a condemnation, then a negotiation by a third party (often Egypt) for a cease-fire.

The scheme is the same over and over for many years. The retaliation is often more punitive for the Palestinian civilians. The question is, if Hamas cares about their own people, should they continue using their people as a shield? Today’s Israeli retaliation confirms that for every action there is a reaction. As the Berber of Algeria say, “You must answer the devil in his own language.”
