The state of Israel got a “Christmas gift” today — not from Santa, but from Hamas. At least five Kassam rockets and several mortar shells landed in southern Israel. The government of Israel issued a warning to Hamas to stop their attack or face a massive invasion of Gaza. Israel’s retaliation would mean a flow of refugees and a humanitarian crisis in neighboring country Egypt.
I wonder if Hamas leaders speak on behalf of their people. Such actions are suicidal and cause so much suffering to the Palestinian people. Hamas’ war against the State of Israel is not winnable. Hamas is facing the most powerful military country in the Middle East. The best solution for Hamas is to negotiate peace. Israel will alway exist. As the Oromo of Ethiopia say, “The plant God favors will grow even without rain.”
