More and more, the liberals are complaining that president-elect Barack Obama is not liberal enough based on his cabinet choices. Apparently, they were expecting the newly elected president to form a “club” of liberals in his cabinet. Barack Obama was elected, not brought at the White House by a revolution in the Bolshevik way. He’s certainly not the president of the “liberals” — he’s the president of the American people. America is a combination of Democrats, Independents, Republicans, Gays, Straights, Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics. Those who didn’t vote for him also need their voice to be heard.

These liberals might not see for now how important it is to build a coalition of opponents when a country is bad shape, but in the long term things will be clear that the president had a vision. Sharing is not a bad thing, specially in bad times. The liberals shouldn’t lose hope to see things change in America. I mean change in diversity. As the Bamileke of Cameroon say, “When the right hand washes the left hand and the left hand washes the right hand, both hands become clean.”
