Former Senator Majority Leader Tom Daschle, supporter of the Clinton administration’s failed health-care initiative in the early 1990s, is President-Elect Barack Obama‘s choice to be Secretary of Health and Human Services.
It should be much easier now for President Obama and congress to agree on a national health-care plan than it was in the Clinton era. Tom Daschle has advocated creating a national board to oversee health care. Hopefully, this time, he will overcome all the obstacles and fix the health care system. As the Yoruba of Nigeria say, “A bird does not change its feathers just because the weather is bad.”
