America is a great country, but also a country of contradiction. A country where anybody can be anything, a country where a criminal can become a celebrity or a celebrity can become a criminal. “Celebrities” are born everyday.
After making Sarah Palin a celebrity, John McCain just made a new celebrity of “Joe the plumber“. Joe is another example of John McCain’s questionable judgment. We all remember how Sarah Palin was picked as running mate by John McCain. She was totally unknown, then we found later who she is: ultra conservative, pro-gun, pro-creation, anti-environment… a catalyst of hate threats and all kinds of intolerance.
Then was born a new celebrity called “Joe the plumber”. A regular guy who is not a plumber, working for a plumbing company without a license. A guy with a $1183 tax lien against him in the state of Ohio. A guy who misrepresented himself and misled everyone with his questions about buying his company and worrying about taxes.
Watch John McCain talking about the “little guy” Joe the plumber.
The question is, did John McCain and his staff take a second to screen this man before including him in his debate? John McCain portrayed himself as an advocate of small businesses. He picked the wrong guy to make his case. Joe Wurzelbacher was mentioned more than twenty times during the debate. If Senator McCain thought that using Joe the plumber would overturn Obama’s lead in the polls, he was wrong.
As the Bumi of Ethiopia say, ” A mouse trap cannot kill an elephant.”
