Back to politics.

The presidential election is 21 days away. The new polls released today show that the gap is growing between Senator Obama and Senator McCain. Today was also one of the rare days that the GOP candidate was more focused on the economy than on attacking his opponent. John McCain certainly learned in a very hard way that, in very unique circumstances when a man of color is running against a white man, it is critical to stay focused on the policies.

By playing the game of race and xenophobia, John McCain resuscitated the old evil of the sixties. Racism before elections was like a virus in dormant stage — John McCain and Sarah Palin decided to reactivate it for political reasons. Last week his wife attacked the Senator of Illinois for voting against funding to support the troops in Iraq. Seeing that John McCain is losing ground in Virginia, traditionally Republican, his brother Joe called Obama’s county stronghold in Virginia a “communist country.”

Wow… I am not a psychologist but I’m learning as well how desperation can make people so “creative” in negativity. Like this man in the video calling Obama a “monkey.” Or John McCain’s Buchanan county campaign chairman (Virginia), who wrote an article saying that “Obama’s administration would respond to a terrorist threat by learning to speak Arabic” or, once elected, “Obama will replace the 50 stars on the US flag with Islamic symbol of a star and crescent.”

With 10 pts behind in the polls, John McCain’s twists in strategy are too little and too late. If John McCain loses the election on November 4th, the first person to blame is himself. As the Berbers Of Algeria say, “If you have never seen evil, look closely at yourself.”
