Mr. President,

When I was growing up, my grandmother told me that the white man was always right. Now that I am an adult, I know better. The war in Iraq is a wrong war, in the wrong place, with the wrong enemy, at the wrong time. This war has no end.

The Afghanistan war, then the Iraq war, stemmed from the attack on September 11, 2001. This war was wanted by the hard wing of your administration as the finishing blow to terrorism. The jihadists went to Iraq to fight your army. To defeat you, they connected with the internal Iraqi resistance. There are hundreds, thousands ready to blow themselves up. How can your army fight an army made up of human bombs?

Today, Mr. President, Iraq is becoming a field of experimentation and training for Al Qaeda and other religious fanatics. Even the witch doctors of Africa will not be able to predict the end of this war. As a Bambara proverb says, “There is no mountain over which you can see the future.”
